Playing with Aluminum Foil

Well this has escalated quickly!

I now used aluminum foil that you can buy anywhere at any shop (comes in roles and it’s used for wrapping food).

This is thiner than candy wrap foil and allot more stubborn!!

PROs:

– a fold will always be visible and it will never tear at the fold line

– thin and can be twisted in all kinds of shapes as end design

– durable material, does not get wet or deteriorated by time

– has unique aspect

– can be used for many origami designs

CONs:

– it can easy get punctured so care for sharp things

– tears only at the edges

– thin and light so don’t work near a windy spot (outdoors, near a fan, near some parrots …)

– I only have one color …. silver

– can not be used for origami designs that require inflating!

So here is some of my test origami 🙂 a bow and a flower!

SPOTLIGHT – Sagrada Familia papercraft by Pol Cuenca

Hell hello again and this is a new SPOTLIGHT for another amazing work of paper art!

Here we have one of the most beloved works of architecture – Sagrada Familia by Antoni Gaudi  – done entirely from paper.

Pol Cuenca, also known as Cuenk89 on deviant art ( deviant art page ), has an awesome gallery full of artworks made from papercraft and other types of materials. Feel free to visit his awesome gallery and enjoy all the wonderful art he has created.

As the artist states ” Sagrada Familia completed, done in 2002, when I was 13. I also did a base. 825 pieces, 3 months to assemble it (all summer)” seems like a long project but fully worth it!

So remember to visit Pol Cuenca’s deviantart page here: Deviant art page

Origami Five intersecting tetrahedral

Origami Five intersecting tetrahedral

This is my latest work, a modular origami piece.

The modules are quite easy to make (ratio of 1:3).

I used 4 x 12 cm strips of paper to make each module.

You need 6 pieces for each tetrahedral (5 tetras in total) = 30 modular pieces

Was very fun to “intersect”!

Here is a link to an origami tutorial if you want to make one: TUTORIAL HERE

Hope you like it!

Blue kusudama flower bouquet

Ilyere here! As an origami fan, I love making paper flowers. One of my favourite flowers is a kusudama flower, although it’s more modular in nature since it requires some paper-cutting and gluing. So, using florist’s materials and lots of glue, I sat down to make a lovely little bouquet.

I feel like it’s something that could be made for a wedding occasion or similar. The size of the bouquet is somewhat small compared to a real bouquet, but it’s large enough to be held with two hands, so a bridesmaid could hold it.

No, I don’t have any special occasions coming up, I just wanted to make a bouquet using this pack of paper. Blue is my favourite colour, haha.

If you’d like to see my progress on how I made this, you can visit my personal blog.

Materials: 240 5cm squares in twelve colours (cut from 24 sheets of 15cm squares), 24 white buttons, 24 florist’s wires, florist’s tape, one metre of dark red ribbon, superglue, PVA glue
